What defines a perfect society? In India, that ideal is known as “Rama Rajya.” The term itself conjures an image of a golden age, and it comes from the story of one of the most beloved kings of the Surya Vamsa: Sri Rama.
According to the “Pedda Bala Siksha,” Sri Rama’s reign was a time of immense happiness and peace for the people. He traveled all across the land, from the north to the south, and fought to protect the ancient and virtuous ways of life. His rule was characterized by peace and harmony, and he worked to eliminate any threats that could disrupt the well-being of his people.
To this day, the term “Rama Rajya” is used as the highest praise for a just and fair government, signifying an era of prosperity and happiness for all. The epic that chronicles his life, the Ramayana, is one of our oldest and most cherished texts.
